Did you know that along with other things, the general health of your body is directly linked to your oral health? This makes it essential to practice excellent oral health in order to make sure your gums remain healthy, your teeth remain strong and sparkling, and your body enjoys optimal health. The thing about healthy dental practices is that most of us know all about it yet we fail to follow a steady oral hygiene routine!

This ends up happening for a number of reasons. While most people are reluctant to put in even the smallest amount of effort to follow a healthy routine, others simply believe that brushing their teeth in the morning is enough as long as nothing hurts in the mouth! If you can relate to this, it is time you start paying attention to your dental health before it’s too late and you are left with no option other than taking an emergency trip to your dentist’s office.

The best way to ensure you enjoy good dental health is to come up with a good oral hygiene routine and follow it religiously. Keep in mind that it does not take more than just a few minutes of your day to get done with most dental hygiene practices. However, the results are long lasting! So irrespective of how tempted you might get to skip on brushing or flossing, know that it’s never a good idea!

An easy way to make sure you never feel weary of getting care of your teeth is to come up with an oral hygiene routine that you love. Yes, it’s possible! Scroll down to read all about the basics of oral health and what you can do make sure you never feel like skipping on your oral hygiene routine.

What Your Oral Hygiene Routine Should Consist Of

Get off on your right foot every day by practicing your oral hygiene regime every morning. Sure, coffee is great to wake you up in the morning. However, you will be surprised to see how well following a healthy oral hygiene routine in the morning can work to wake you up for the day ahead!

Keep in mind that even if you brush your teeth before you hit the bed, it is still not a good enough reason to skip your dental care routine. In fact, it is extremely important because as you sleep peacefully during the night, the bacteria in your mouth multiplies at an exponential rate, promoting the growth of plaque inside the mouth. This is one reason why it is common to experience bad breath in the morning!

In order to make sure you always start off your mornings the right way, scroll down to read what your morning oral hygiene routine should consist of.

•        Morning Oral Hygiene Routine

Since most of us are in the habit of waking up late in the morning and then rushing through the morning routine, it is important to set some rules when it comes to dental care. First of all, make sure that no matter how late you are getting in the morning, you don’t skip brushing your teeth. Also, as you brush your teeth, make sure that you are doing it the right way because brushing teeth reluctantly in a hurry is almost as bad as not brushing at all. Also, don’t forget to gently brush your tongue as it can harbor germs and bacteria as well.

Next, if you want to enjoy pristine breath, it is a good idea to rinse your mouth with a good-quality antibacterial mouthwash. It will not only make your breath smell fresh and clean, but you will also feel much more energized and ready for the day.

Tip: If you are in the habit of starting your day with a glass of orange juice or coffee, it is advisable to wait for a few minutes before brushing your teeth after consuming such sugary drinks. This is important because acidic foods and drinks can temporarily soften the enamel.

•        Night Oral Hygiene Routine

While it is understandable that you are always in a rush in the morning, when it comes to your nighttime oral hygiene routine, it is always a good idea to take your time! Start by brushing your teeth. Brush for at least 2 minutes and make sure you don’t forget to brush behind the teeth. Also, just like you did in the morning, lightly brush your tongue as well.

Once you are done brushing your teeth, it’s time to floss. Carefully floss between the teeth and along the gum line. However, make sure you don’t do it vigorously as it can damage the gums. Finally, call it a day by rinsing your mouth with mouthwash.

How to Enjoy Your Oral Hygiene Routine

Here are a few tips that can help you enjoy your daily oral hygiene routine.

  • Choose good quality fluoride toothpaste that you like.
  • Make sure the bristles of your toothbrush are not too hard for your teeth or gums.
  • Refrain from brushing too vigorously as it can damage the teeth enamel as well as your gums.
  • Be extra careful when it comes to flossing.
  • Try not to rush through your oral hygiene routine. Instead, be gentle and enjoy each activity.
  • Choose a refreshing mouthwash that you like.

Follow this daily oral hygiene routine, and you’ll be all set for enjoying impeccable dental health for a long time! Remember, all it takes is a few minutes but skipping your dental hygiene routine can have lifelong repercussions!
