Dental Services at The Tooth Corner

The Tooth Corner in Etobicoke offers a wide range of dental services, including:

Dental braces: When one element of your smile is out of alignment, it can affect the aesthetics, function, and health of your smile. Braces can address all of these concerns, providing you with straighter teeth and a balanced bite. We are proud to offer both traditional braces and Invisalign® to meet the needs of our patients. Find out which option is best for you during a complimentary consultation.

Root canal therapy: If a large fracture occurs, or if decay goes untreated for a prolonged period of time, infection can breach the pulp chamber of a tooth. When this occurs, the only way to eliminate the bacteria is with root canal therapy. During this procedure, the nerves, blood vessels, and other living tissues inside the tooth are removed and replaced with a high-quality dental material. Once the canals and pulp chamber are filled, the tooth is sealed with a filling. Root canal therapy can effectively save a tooth from extraction and can last for several years – often a lifetime.

Multiple tooth extraction: No one enjoys hearing they need a tooth pulled. However, with today’s advanced methods, our doctors can make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. Whether you need several teeth removed or just one, we are happy to help.

Dental implants: In years past, missing teeth had to be replaced with dental bridges or dentures, which had to be replaced every few years. Today, dental implants offer a reliable, stable, and long-lasting alternative. Designed to replace the roots of missing teeth, implants are small threaded posts that are surgically embedded into the jawbone during an oral surgery procedure. Once fused with the natural bone tissue, implants can support a variety of restorations, including crowns, bridges, and dentures.

Sleep dentistry: Millions of patients worldwide experience dental anxiety. Those who suffer from the condition may feel physically sick before a dental visit. Unfortunately, this can cause individuals to skip their appointments altogether, resulting in a myriad of oral health problems. Sleep dentistry can help alleviate fears and anxieties and induce a feeling of relaxation, keeping patients much more comfortable while under our care.

Dental hygiene: Regular teeth cleanings are a necessity for long-lasting oral health. During these visits, your hygienist will gently remove buildup from the teeth and sweep away hard-to-reach bacteria. In addition, we can also help you develop a personalized hygiene routine at home to keep your smile looking great between visits.

Visiting our dentist shouldn’t break the bank. However, most of us don’t understand the true value of oral health, and it’s upkeep. Most of us are quick to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation that may last a few days or a few weeks, yet are very hesitant to spend money when it comes to the one curve that lasts a lifetime and sets everything straight, our smile. Whether you have dental insurance or not, we charge appropriate, reasonable, and fair prices for the quality of care we provide. Furthermore, our prices are comparable to the suggested fee guide supplied by Ontario’s Dental Association (ODA).

Only well-screened, qualified doctors and hygienists make it through to ensure a comfortable and joyful experience for you. We know that visiting a dentist is not something many of us look forward to so it is paramount that you’re in the gentle and capable hands of a caring and experienced professional, and we’ve gone to lengths to ensure that here.

We treat people, not just teeth. We’re more interested in you, the one behind the smile. The last thing any of us want to deal with is a rude, edgy, or poorly trained receptionist or office manager. Empathy is one of our core values, and we go to extreme measures to ensure that it’s palpable in every interaction we have with you, our beloved patients.

We’re after your trust, not wallets. We provide honest consultations that are in the best interest of your teeth, not our pockets. Unfortunately, insurance mining or the process of over-diagnosing to get the most of what remains out of a patients insurance policy is quickly becoming common practice in dentistry. Insurance mining is unethical and can even be considered borderline fraud. This is not to be confused with cases involving preventive measures. Irrelevant of the situation though, we always ensure that you get an honest, and proper consultation that is in your oral health’s benefit.

We take all private dental insurance plans like Manulife, Sun Life, Great-West Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada and more. If you’re not sure, call us and ask. We believe that no patient should be left to worry or be concerned with whether we accept their insurance or not, but to make it easy for you, and for your added convenience, we decided to take them all.

Whether it’s ODSP for disability support, Ontario Works for welfare, Healthy Smiles Ontario for kids 17 and under, or IFHP for refugees, we take them all. If it’s made in Canada, we accept it. In a nutshell, we dislike disappointing patients or turning them away.

For those of us without insurance, we provide comfortable, interest-free payment plans for more expensive cosmetic procedures. Affordability shouldn’t get in a mothers way of getting her child braces, or a senior citizen’s way of getting implants. Everyone should be comfortably able to take care of their oral health needs.

For patients who are new to the country, visiting, or for whatever reason don’t speak English, they can feel comfortable knowing that we speak many languages at The Tooth Corner. Here are some of the ones we speak: English (of course), French, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, and more. If you don’t speak any English, feel free to call to check and see if we speak your language.

Children sometimes benefit from phased orthodontic treatment, in which braces are worn two or more times during adolescence and young adult years. Adults can also wear braces.... Read More »

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

If you experience pain when your wisdom teeth start to come in, one of the unerupted third molars could be impacted or infected. Sometimes patients want to proactively have the large teeth removed, before they cause pain. Wisdom teeth can be hard to clean, due to their location in the very back of the mouth. If yours erupt and develop normally, there’s a risk that they could create problems in the future if improper brushing and flossing allows decay to develop. However, some people retain all their wisdom teeth throughout life, without incident. ... Read More »

Which one of these emergencies do you have?

DENTAL INSURANCE SPECIFICS

Does The Tooth Corner bill the insurance companies directly?

Yes, we accept insurance payments directly from the insurance companies. Most insurance companies in Canada allow for this with a few exceptions. The advantage of this is that it allows you to keep your money in your pocket and lets us worry about collecting payment and we're more than happy to do so. However, you will have to pay your deductible which varies from one insurance policy to another. Call us with the name of your insurance provider for more information.

What's Non-Assignment?

Non-Assignment is where you pay us first and then we submit your claim to your insurance company. We do this electronically and on the spot so you don't have to worry about it. The insurance company then reimburses you for the portion they cover as part of your insurance policy within a few business days. You can receive the money as quick as 2 business days at times.

So let's say for example your treatment plan ends up costing you $1,000 dollars and your insurance company covers 80% of that. You would pay us the $1,000 dollars, preferrably using a rewards card to incur reward points, and in a few business days you would receive $800 dollars back. If your insurance covers 100% of the treatment plan, then you'll get your entire $1,000 dollars back. Absolutely, nothing to lose, in fact there's something to gain in the process.

There are a few advantages to non-assignment, one of them being getting free reward points on your favourite rewards card. Here's why the Ontario Dental Association encourages it in their own words:

WHY THE ODA OPPOSES ASSIGNMENT

The ODA is opposed to assignment of benefits and actively encourages dental plan sponsors to make their dental plans “non-assignment” plans. Many people wonder why the ODA would oppose a process that many find convenient.

The answer lies in the fact that “non-assignment” dental plans can be less expensive than those that allow assignment, simply because the act of a patient paying for their dental care makes them financially involved in their oral health care. This provides very a good incentive for the patient to use their dental plan wisely. Dental claim reimbursement is much faster than it was years ago, and patients are finding that when they pay the dentist directly their reimbursement cheque is received quickly; greatly minimizing the time they are out of pocket. It is not unusual to see the dentist on Monday and have the reimbursement cheque before the end of the week, thanks to electronic claims submission.

Also, many dentists accept credit cards, which typically have a monthly billing cycle. If complex treatment is necessary, dentists can arrange a payment schedule that allows a patient to budget for expenses and get reimbursement that is more conveniently timed.

Active decision-making about oral health care by patients and meaningful involvement in the financial matters of dental care, including the dental plan, is an important part of achieving excellent oral health care.

Patients with Dental Insurance

At The Tooth Corner, we accept all forms of insurance, both private and government. It's important for you to be in the know as to which services are covered by your insurance, and how much is covered. Most insurance plans cover up to 80% of general dentistry, oral hygiene, and emergency services. Treatment plans that are cosmetic in nature, such as whitening, implants, veneers, and braces are not typically covered, but you should always double check.

Some of our offices are open on weekends, please visit your location of interest under locations in the main menu above to verify office hours.

Do you offer sedation in the office?

Yes, many of our offices offer sleep dentistry, which often helps those with anxiety or fear of the dentist. If you require sleep dentistry, please call your location of interest to double check that it's available there.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we are always accepting new patients!

What age do I start bringing my children in?

Right away. Even if it’s not for treatment, visiting the office and getting to know the office and its surroundings will make it easier and more comfortable for your children to be treated in the future.
